AI phone agent for internet providers: 24h support without growing the team
How a regional provider can use an AI agent on the phone to look up the customer in the SGP, send the second copy on WhatsApp and unblock on trust.

Anyone who works at an internet provider knows the pattern: the phone rings off the hook when the connection goes down in a neighborhood, at the start of the month when invoices are due, and at night, when the customer gets home and finds out they have no internet. A good share of these calls look the same: "my internet went down", "I need the bill", "I already paid and I'm still blocked".
These questions matter to the customer, but they're repetitive for the team. In this article, we show how an AI agent on the phone can resolve some of them during the call itself, without pulling the technical team away from what really requires a technician.
The calls that repeat most at a provider
Every provider has its own reality, but some topics show up in almost all of them:
- Financial: second copy of the invoice, Pix code, due date, payment confirmation.
- Blocking for late payment: customers who paid late or who need the connection while they sort out the bill.
- Connection: "there's no internet", "it's slow", "the router light is red".
- Sales: available plans, coverage on the street, installation, change of address.
The first two groups are exactly the ones a well-integrated system can resolve without human intervention, as long as the AI has access to the right data.
What the AI does when connected to the SGP
The SGP is one of the management systems most used by regional providers. When Combot's AI agent is integrated with it, the call stops being just a conversation and starts getting things done:
- Looks up the customer by CPF or CNPJ. The AI asks for the account holder's document and finds the record, with plan, contracts and whether the connection is blocked.
- Sends the second copy on WhatsApp. Instead of dictating a barcode over the phone (nobody deserves that), the AI sends the open invoice, with the Pix code, on WhatsApp. For security, it goes to the WhatsApp of the number that is calling.
- Unblocks on trust. For a customer blocked for late payment, the AI can unblock on trust, after checking the record and the person confirming they want it. If the contract isn't eligible, it says so naturally.
- Reports the connection status. The AI can say whether the contract is active or blocked, which already separates the financial problem from the technical one.
What can't be resolved this way (a technical visit, equipment replacement, a general outage) the AI logs the case and sends it to the team's WhatsApp, with the link to call the customer.
We detail the integration in this article: SGP integration with WhatsApp and phone.
An illustrative example
Imagine (fictional example) a customer who calls at 10 p.m. because the internet stopped. They don't know it, but the invoice was due a few days ago and the connection was blocked.
The AI answers, asks for the account holder's CPF and checks the record. It sees that the contract is blocked for late payment. It explains this to the customer, offers to send the second copy with Pix to their WhatsApp and asks if they want the trusted unblock while they pay. They confirm. The connection comes back, the invoice arrives on WhatsApp and the call ends without anyone on the team being woken up.
The next day, the team sees in the panel what happened on the call: who called, what was looked up, what was sent and what was unblocked.
Why phone, if the provider already has WhatsApp
Many providers already serve well through WhatsApp, and should continue to. But the phone keeps ringing, for a few reasons:
- A customer without internet has no WhatsApp on Wi-Fi. If the home connection is down and the mobile data plan is weak, calling is all that's left.
- Many people prefer to talk. Especially older customers, or those in a hurry.
- During a general outage, the phone explodes. That's when the team is least able to answer and when the most people call.
An AI agent on the phone answers several calls at the same time, with no queue. It can give notice about a known maintenance issue and handle billing, leaving the team free for the technical problem.
What to configure before going live
- The hours. What the AI does during and outside business hours: always handle billing and, outside hours, take a note and send it on WhatsApp, just state the hours, or not answer at all?
- The release rules. Trusted release respects what SGP allows for each contract. Agree on the policy internally before offering it over the phone.
- The connection script. Which basic guidance the AI gives (restart the router, check cables) before taking down the case and sending it to the technician on WhatsApp.
- The sales script. Plans, coverage, how to sign up. The AI can note the interest and send it to the sales team's WhatsApp.
Combot has a ready-made script for internet providers, which serves as a basis for these adjustments.
How much it costs
The AI Phone costs R$ 399 per month per number, including the number and 500 minutes per month. The SGP integration is configured in the Combot panel with your SGP access credentials. To see everything Combot does for providers, including on WhatsApp, see the page for providers.
Important precautions
- Personal data. The AI asks for the CPF to look up the account. Handle this in accordance with the LGPD: state the purpose, don't ask for more than you need, and control who accesses the records.
- Invoice only to the account holder. That's why the 2nd copy goes to the WhatsApp of the number that is calling, and not to any number the person gives.
- Test beforehand. Make test calls with real team accounts to check the responses and the releases.
Summary
For the provider, the AI phone does not replace technical support; it clears away the repetitive volume: 2nd copy, block, status. Integrated with SGP, it resolves this on the call itself, at any time, and keeps a record of what was done. If your billing comes in more through WhatsApp, it's also worth reading 2nd copy of the invoice via WhatsApp for providers. When the number doesn't point to the system, the path is in agent for carriers and providers.
